So… I really meant to post this yesterday. Friday night and drinks go hand-in-hand, right? That’s even how I started my post. I ended up going out to dinner and drinks with my boyfriend Thursday night before he left for the weekend instead of editing pictures and proofreading my post. Did I also mention it’s his birthday weekend!?! So sorry I’m not sorry I guess.
He is in Mexico for a bachelor party. I’m kind of bummed that it had to be the weekend of his birthday (which is Sunday), but it just gives me more time to prepare and bake this really awesome cake I have planned. He is not only the most amazing boyfriend but truly the best person in the world, so I want to make his birthday super special.
So instead of a long post about my bartending experience and why I keep giving you recipes that involve grapefruits, here is how you can make an amazing Ruby Red Grapefruit Martini. It’s delicious and fruity without being too sweet. And you can use those candied grapefruit peels you saw earlier in the week as a fun garnish.
Saturday night and drinks go hand-in-hand too, right?
- 2 ounces vodka
- ½ ounce orange liqueur
- 3½ ounces fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
- ½ ounce simple syrup
- Fill shaker to rim with ice.
- Add vodka, orange liqueur, grapefruit juice and simple syrup to shaker.
- Shake vigorously for 30 to 45 seconds.
- Strain into chilled martini glass and garnish with candied peel.
