This is almost too easy to share, but I love a good smoothie recipe so why not?
I love smoothies – they are quick and easy, usually full of fruit, calcium and fiber and oh so delicious!
I did a lot of smoothies over the summer, mostly because it’s way too warm outside to eat a hot breakfast. Now that it’s fall I’ve been doing my usually oatmeal and almond milk breakfast with a drizzle of honey and a handful of whatever fruit is in the fridge.
But I wanted to shake things up over the weekend. The boyfriend was sick and was in no mood for an actual breakfast so a smoothie it is.
This one is my power smoothie, mostly because it is full of antioxidants, fiber and vitamin C. Talk about starting off you day right. And did you know that blackberries have one of the highest amounts of antioxidants – even more so than blueberries who usually get all the antioxidant credit.
This black and blue power smoothie also has a fair amount of greek yogurt, which is so good for your digestive health, and almond milk which has all those good, healthy fats. Finish it with a banana (hello potassium) and you have yourself a delicious, healthy, filling breakfast that took you under 5 minutes to whip up.
I know – I just did it!
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup blackberries
- 6 oz greek yogurt
- 1 medium banana
- In a blender, add milk first then blueberries, blackberries, yogurt and the banana.
- Blend until smooth and thick in consistency.
***If your berries are a little tart, you can add a small amount of honey for sweetness.
